Certified B Corporations are a new category of business that balances purpose and profit. Digitopia was one of the first B Corporations in San Diego, but this U.S.-based initiative has now become a global movement.
Currently, there are over 2,700 B Corporations around the world, and we're all on a mission to use business as a force for good.
We believe the decisions we make in business have far-reaching impact, and that the business community can do more to advance society than one individual alone. At Digitopia, we voluntarily consider how every decision impacts our customers, employees, suppliers, community, and the environment.
Thousands of Companies Around the World.
One Unifying Goal.
Currently, there are over 2,700 B Corporations in 150 industries across 64 countries. See why influential companies like Patagonia, Kickstarter, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and more have joined the movement to redefine success in business.
In order to become a certified B Corporation, companies must go through a rigorous vetting process called the B Impact Assessment (BIA). This assessment evaluates a company's overall social and environmental performance in five core areas including: the environment, employees, corporate governance, community and customers.

The B Impact Assessment evaluates a company’s environmental performance across its facilities, materials, emissions, and energy use. At Digitopia, sustainable business practices are a the core of our DNA. Each month we report the company's month-over-month and year-over-year energy use with employees and devise ways to lower our collective impact over time.
The B Impact Assessment measures how the company treats its workers through compensation, benefits and training. The assessment also focuses on the overall work environment by assessing job flexibility, corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices. At Digitopia, we believe work-life balance is critical to building a happy and healthy workforce. Digitopia's team has flexible schedules, full benefits, career roadmaps, access to ongoing training, certifications and more.
The B Impact Assessment evaluates a company’s overall mission, ethics, accountability and transparency. Companies are graded on employees' access to corporate information, customers’ opportunities to provide feedback, and the diversity of the company’s governing bodies. At Digitopia, the full team participates in quarterly strategy sessions and customers have a direct line of communication to the owners of the company. We're also proud that 50% of Digitopia is women- and minority-owned.
The B Impact Assessment evaluates a company’s supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community. It also measures the company’s practices and policies around community service and charitable giving. At Digitopia, our team has committed to being involved in the community on a weekly basis. Additionally, we have partnered with Padres Pedal the Cause, a San Diego non-profit on a mission to eradicate cancer. Digitopia leads the non-profits ongoing digital marketing efforts to help raise funding and increase event attendance.
Finally, the B Impact Assessment measures the impact a company has on its customers by focusing on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit and if those products/services are targeted toward serving underserved populations. While Digitopia typically serves mid-sized business; the owners are passionate about helping local, growing companies. For that reason, 25% of our client roster is dedicated to serving small businesses as well as cause- and purpose-driven brands that may not otherwise have access to high-end professional marketing services.
